Andrew Holliman

Associate Professor - UCL - supporting the Primary-Secondary School Transitions Strategy Event workstream.

I am an Associate Professor and Academic Head of Learning and Teaching at the UCL Institute of Education, based in the Department of Psychology and Human Development. In addition to my academic role, I serve as Chair of both the British Psychological Society’s Psychology of Education Section and the London and Home Counties Branch. My research sits at the intersection of psychology and education, with a particular focus on higher education. I am especially interested in the factors that influence educational transitions and the complex interplay of risk and protective factors that shape student outcomes. This work has practical implications for improving retention, well-being, and academic achievement across diverse learner populations. At the heart of my work is a passionate commitment to supporting individuals in their learning and development, fostering a sense of self-worth, and empowering them to achieve their goals, reach their full potential, and enjoy their lives.
